About The Foundation

The Grower-Shipper Association Foundation is a non-profit 501c(3) organization founded in 2003 that provides education and information on the agriculture industry as well as offering innovative programs to our community.  We are to make our community aware of the positive impact agriculture makes to all our lives.

AgKnowledge™

AgKnowledge gives local community leaders a unique, hands-on experience to see the inner workings of the agriculture industry.  As program Fellows, participants in the program commit to nine months encompassing nine-day long sessions.  These intensive sessions provide Fellows with a broad understanding of the produce industry and it's local, national and global impact.  Experts within both agriculture industry and outside speak to a wide range of topics and current affair issues.  This broad spectrum approach ensures a balanced and informed educational experience so participants may gain a solid foundation on the key issues facing the agriculture industry.

Greater Vision

The Greater Vision Program started in 2006 as a conference series designed for the general public, students, faculty and members of the produce industry.  It is a collaboration between the Grower-Shipper Association Foundation and California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) and live-streamed at local community colleges.  This highly informational series explores important topics and issues affecting the agriculture industry and the larger community in which we all live.  We believe better decisions and policies will come from community leadership that is better informed as to issues faced by the farming community combined with an understanding as to how the industry really works.

More Produce In Schools

More Produce in Schools is a proactive, innovative solution to a serious local and national health problem. Our community and children are not immune to the national obesity epidemic.  Although surrounded by wholesome and healthy produce, our schools do not have the resources and, at times, the information to properly feed our children with fresh produce necessary for a well-balanced and healthy diet. The Foundation is leading a produce solution by bridging connections between schools and the agriculture community for the health and wellness of the next generation. Along with our partners at United Fresh Start Foundation and the Food Bank for Monterey County, we work with the schools to help find effective solutions to provide more fresh produce in our schools.

Ag Against Hunger

Ag Against Hunger partners with local growers, processors, and shippers to help end hunger by "gleaning" fresh, healthy surplus fruits and vegetables to food banks and schools. The program enlists volunteers to "glean" in the fields and provide fresh produce to the community. We celebrate with the Ag Woman of Year and Rodeo Mascot Race events.
